Post Race Report - 16/08/20 - Swaffham Raceway

So yesterday we were at an extremely soaking wet Swaffham Raceway! We took the Nova out this time, and it was so good!

Race 1 - We started p4. Unfortunately we had almost no front end grip. We got caught up in every single incident in that race, meaning I was having to dodge and avoid, go out wide to miss out of control cars, pushing me further and further back down the field. We finished somewhere in the middle of a grid of 21 cars.

Race 2 - Similar story. Started p4, finished p9. Very wet race, got pushed out wide, and that set us back a few places. Also, we developed a severe misfire ad the rotar arm broke, reducing power significantly. Managed to bring it back clean and safely, with a p9, top 10 finish.

Final - Again started p4. Got an awesome start in torrential rain. Myself and 125 were battling for 3rd, I pulled away, snatched 2nd place and was chasing down down 09 in 1st. Then, the rain absolutely hammered it down. The track was, no exaggeration, like a lake. 2 inches deep of water the whole way round the track. Lap by lap we were chasing down 1st place.

With just 5 laps remaining and 1st place in site, I hit a deep spot of water on the inside line of the pit bend, sucked water down the carburettor, and it cut out. After turning it over on the infield a few times, the nova spluttered back in to life, and I managed to get back out on track, but by that time, I was already back to p18. We finished p18.

Super gutted as that would have been our first win for about 2 years. These things happen and we will come back better and strong next time out.

Despite the results, I was super happy with how it handled the horrendous conditions. Super appreciative of the help and advice all day from fellow drivers.

It just wasn't our day unfortunately. We'll regroup, and take p1 next time. Link to the final race here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uck5ikcb0Io&t=291s
